After much research in speaking with sports clubs, we have come to see that the barriers to child safety in sport are finances, getting volunteers, and time. Through this initiative, we hope to alleviate part of this barrier by enabling a club to be trained in the basics of child safety including topics such as:
  • What is child abuse?
  • How to Identifying abuse
  • How to build a culture of child safety
  • how to respond appropriately if a child discloses.

The bonus of the club doing this training is the children can know and parents can know that if a child discloses abuse, or feels unsafe the child will be listened to and responded to.

The Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to child sexual abuse that spanned from 2012 – 2017 found that there were 482 cases of abuse in sport, recreation and community groups. We desperately desire to give children a future and help the club to build a healthy culture of child safety which is what this training begins to do.

We are inviting you to help us raise $20,000 towards helping sporting clubs to be able to access our 90-minute ChildSafe Culture and Abuse face to face Training (valued at $700) for FREE.

(*$700 excludes travel and accommodation is this was needed.)

The Face to Face Training we run offers the leaders of children typically Coaches, Team Managers, Trainers, etc of the clubs to training in an environment where they can learn and ask questions. The training is interactive and offers a number of scenarios to work through in order to help build culture and keep children safe.

$20,000 will be enough for 28 clubs to do our training and make sure the children in their care are safe.
