Ruth Clare didn’t get the support she needed as a child

When Ruth (pictured here) was a child, she went to school after witnessing family violence the night before. She bravely told her teacher what had happened. Instead of receiving support, she was dismissed. The teacher did nothing. No one followed up. No one intervened. Ruth was left to carry the burden alone, a child with no backup.

That should never happen.

At ChildSafe Australia, we believe that every adult  whether they’re a teacher, volunteer, coach, or community leader should be equipped to respond with compassion, confidence, and competence when a child reaches out.
